The Vantaa City Crime Prevention Programme<br />
CRIME PREVENTION IN STRIP COMICS<br />
• Four strip comics in a local newspaper “Vantaan Sanomat” on 2002-2003<br />
• Themes were : pilfering, graffiti, car theft, violence<br />
• A small working group carried out the ideas of the comics<br />
• A young local artist draw the comics<br />
• Nearby each comics there was a info-sheet giving information on this kind of<br />
crime and the consequences<br />
• Newspaper readers gave positive feedback on the comics<br />
• The comics were mentioned also in Finnish tv-programme “Police-TV” as a<br />
funny and nice idea to get information on crime prevention<br />
• Teachers were asked to handle the comics and their themes at schools but<br />
they were not handled there<br />
