WNIOSKI<br />

Na rynku polskim znajduje sie˛ obecnie stosunkowo szeroka i ciekawa oferta<br />

suplementow zawieraja˛cych długołańcuchowe kwasy tłuszczowe omega-3 EPA<br />

i DHA. Preparaty te cechuja˛ sie˛ znacznym zróz˙nicowaniem pod wzgle˛dem<br />

zawartos´ci kwasów EPA i DHA. Takz˙e cena za dawke˛ dobowa˛ proponowanej<br />

kuracji oraz pokrywaja˛ca˛ dzienne zalecane minimalne spoz˙ycie EPA i DHA<br />

istotnie róz˙nicuje te preparaty. W okresie od 01.04 do 02.06 odnotowano istotny<br />

wzrost asortymentu i poziomu sprzedaz˙y suplementów zawieraja˛cych długołańcuchowe<br />

kwasy tłuszczowe omega-3 na rynku w postaci kapsułek. Główna˛<br />

przyczyna˛ zakupu tych suplementów przez pacjentów sa˛ zalecenia lekarskie.<br />

Najwyz˙szym poziomem sprzedaz˙y cechuje preparaty zawieraja˛ce olej rybi wa˛trobowy<br />

(trany), a poje˛cie „kwasy omega-3” ws´ród pacjentów korzystaja˛cych<br />

z badanych aptek jest nadal prawie nieznane. Wielkos´ć sprzedaz˙y suplementów<br />

zawieraja˛cych długołańcuchowe kwasy omega-3 wykazuje s´cisła˛ zalez˙nos´ć od pory<br />

roku i jest wcia˛z˙ stosunkowo niewielka.<br />

THE ASSESSMENT OF NUTRITIONAL QUALITY OF OMEGA-3<br />

LONG CHAIN POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACID FORMULATIONS AVAILABLE<br />

ON POLISH PHARMACEUTICAL MARKET<br />

Summary<br />

The aim of this work was to assess the nutritional quality of, and the market for, formulations<br />

containing omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in fish oil from 3 selected drug stores<br />

in Warsaw. A survey of the range of fish oil formulations as well as a comparison of omega-3 fatty acids<br />

content, prices of the proposed intakes and doses covering recommended daily minimal intake and the<br />

rate of sales during 2004 <strong>–</strong> 2006 were made. Forty eight formulations containing omega-3 PUFA from<br />

fish oil were found to be present on the market. The amounts of omega-3 PUFA, prices and rates of sales<br />

of these products varied widely. There was a growing tendency in the availability and sales of omega-3<br />

formulations in the capsule form; fish liver oil were frequently purchased. The main motivation behind<br />

such purchases of the formulations were doctor’s recommendations. However, the rate of sales of such<br />

formulations was largely dependent on the season of the year and, when compared to the number of<br />

customers in the analysed drug stores, continued to be very low.<br />
