Objectives By the end of this lesson, the pupils must be able to: A. define the following terms in their own words: police blotter, investigation, desk officer; B. describe the different trainings a trainee should undergo before becoming a policeman; C. analyze the struggles and hardships a police officer goes through in the line of duty; and D. appreciate the important roles a policeman plays in our society. II. Contents A. Subject Matter: My Father Is A Policeman B. Reference: Alitaptap Grade 2, Vol. 19, Issue No. 1, SY 2007-2008, pages 9-11. C. Materials: pictures of policemen D. Values: appreciation of the roles played by policemen in a society; giving respect to people in authority E. Key Ideas: 1. One should undergo rigid trainings at the Philippine National Police Training Center before one can become a policeman. 2. Policemen play important roles in the society such us protecting lives of the innocent, upholding the law, and keeping the peace and order in communities. F. Assignment: 1. Read the article “My Father is a Policeman” on pages 9-11 of Alitaptap and answer the questions on page 11. 2. Make a list of good things a policeman does in our society. III. Methods A. Preliminary Activity Any of the following. 1. Show a picture of a policeman and ask the class to describe his looks (like his uniform) and the roles played in our society. 2. Ask the class who among them have parents who are police officers. The teacher may encourage the pupil to describe his/her parent working in the police force. B. Development of the lesson 1. Ask the pupils to define the following terms: police blotter, investigation, desk officer. 2. Let the pupils describe the trainings one has to undergo before becoming a policeman. 3. Have the pupils analyze the struggles and hardships a policeman experiences in the line of duty. 4. From their analyses, let the class form one or two abstractions about the important roles a policeman plays in our society. C. Concluding Activity 1. Have the class give a summary of the lesson through one or two key ideas learned. 2. Valuing: Give respect to the men in uniform, but be wary of those who abuse their authority. Takdang-aralin: 1. Ipabasa ang lathalain sa mga pahina 14-16 ng Alitaptap at ipasagot ang katanungan sa pahina 16. 2. Ipalista ang mga halimbawa ng pagpapakita ng paggalang sa kapwa. III. Pamamaraan A. Panimulang Gawain Alinman sa mga sumusunod: 1. Pagpapakita ng larawan ng pagmamano. Ipalarawan sa mag-aaral at iugnay sa paksa. 2. Kumuha ng ilang mag-aaral na magpapakita ng isang maikling pagsasadula o role-playing ng pagpapakita ng paggalang ng Pilipino, tulad halimbawa ng pagmamano ng mga anak sa kanilang magulang pagkagaling sa paaralan, paggamit ng “po” at “opo”, pagyuko ng ulo kapag bumabati, at iba pa. B. Paglinang ng Aralin: 1. Sa ipinakitang larawan o pagsasadula (roleplay), tanungin ang mga mag-aaral sa iba’t ibang paraan ng pagpapakita ng paggalang ng mga Pilipino sa kapwa. 2. Ipasuri sa klase ang kahalagahan ng paggalang sa kapwa. 3. Pagbubuo ng mga mag-aaral ng isa o dalawang maikling kaisipan mula sa ginawang pagsusuri. C. Pangwakas na Gawain: 1. Pagbubuod. Hikayatin ang mga mag-aaral na magbigay ng isa o dalawang aral na natutuhan sa paksa. 2. Pagpapahalaga: Himukin ang mga mag-aaral na magbigay pa ng ilang halimbawa ng mga paraan ng pagpapakita ng paggalang sa kapwa sa loob ng tahanan, sa paaralan, at sa lipunan. IV.
