Steroids<br />
Glucocorticoids are very effective in ameliorating the vasogenic<br />
edema that accompanies tumors, inflammatory conditions, and<br />
other disorders associated with increased<br />
permeability of the blood-brain barrier, including surgical<br />
manipulation.<br />
However, steroids are not helpful to treat cytotoxic edema and are<br />
detrimental in patients with brain<br />
ischemia.<br />
