CHARACTERISTIC OF LABORATORY FINDINGS IN DOGS
WITH LIVER DISEASE – TESTING OF CLINICAL
SIGNIFICANCE

SUMMARY
The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance
of laboratory findings in dogs with liver disease. The metabolic profile in
dogs with liver disease showed a significantly higher concentration of
ALT, AST, AP, GGT and bilirubine, while the concentration of urea and
cholesterol were significantly lower. There was a significant link between
elevated levels of ALT, AST, AP, GGT and bilirubine with the existence
of liver disease dogs. AP and AST have the greatest clinical significance,
while ALT, GGT and bilirubine have somewhat lower values of
sensitivity and specificity. By determining the most important factors that
indicate liver health are two factors stand out. For the purpose of
extracting the most important factors that influence the metabolic profile
and blood count was found a significant effect of two factors. The first
factor explained 79.7% of variation of all parameters and maximum
values correlated with ALT and AP, and the second factor accounts for
14.4% of the variability of all parameters and maximum was correlated
with bilirubine. The results highlight the clinical significance of ALT, AP
and bilirubine.
