NORTHEAST TEMPLE 2008 SEASON<br />

In the summer of 2008, members of the Antiocheia ad Cragum<br />

Archaeological Research Project (ACARP) returned to Güney Köyü, Gazipaşa,<br />

for a third season of research on the Northeast Temple. The field season<br />

was conducted under the auspices of the Archaeological Directorate of the<br />

Ministry of Culture to which we are extremely grateful for granting us the<br />

excavation permit. We are grateful to Seher Türkmen, Associate Director of<br />

the Alanya Museum, for her helpful advice and encouragement. We further<br />

appreciate the efforts of local officials who helped to facilitate our project;<br />

particular thanks are gi<strong>ve</strong>n to Cemburak Özgenç, mayor of Gazipaşa, and<br />

his assistant, Ülkü Özdemir, for all their efforts on our behalf. Funding for<br />

the project was generously provided by the United States National Science<br />

Foundation, the Uni<strong>ve</strong>rsity of Nebraska Research Council and the Hixson-<br />

Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, the Harvard Uni<strong>ve</strong>rsity Loeb<br />

Classical Library Foundation, and Clark Uni<strong>ve</strong>rsity.<br />

The structure is identified as an imperial Roman temple of the early<br />

third century AD. Student assistants for 2008 were: Lily Acunzo, Catherine<br />

Armwood, Michael Bond, Claire Frost, Susan Herringer, Julia McKinley,<br />

Kenzi Meyer, Travis Shafer, Jamie Tills, Melissa White, and Justin Winter.<br />
