Site No. 144: French School in Madenli Village

14/7/2008: Location of school building of the French Mandate period.
According to the villagers once a church stood here. A fragment of a capital
with decoration was found here.
Site No. 145. Site Name: Madenli Village Cemetery
UTM East 768117; UTM North 4038986. Date: Hell – Rom
15/7/2008: A low hill occupied by the modern cemetery of the village
of Madenli. Visibility was generally poor, due both to the modern graves
and overgrown thickets. Much modern ceramic material (roof tiles) was
interspersed with the ancient material, including ETS.
Site No. 146. Site Name: Düzöğüren – Field near Çengen Köy (Kepirce)
UTM East 231926; UTM North 4042039. Date: Hell – Rom – Byz – MA/Ott
15/7/2008: Large ancient settlement remains in ploughed fields near the
now abandoned house. Undressed stones, large amounts of pottery and roof
tiles were recorded.
Site No. 147. Site Name: Karadağ
UTM East 231340; UTM North 4041299. Date: Rom – Byz
15/7/2008: This site was located approx. 1 km from the center of Site 146
and approx. 0.5 km from site 148. We were led to the site by a local resident
of Çengen Köy/Kepirce. Three deep (approx. 2 m) looter pits were visible
on the top of the ridge; these pits were apparently the original context for
the fragments of a low-quality mosaic of pastel colored tesserae which
were observed on this day (one example of which was collected). A dense
