Site No. 104
UTM East 752119; UTM North 4025521. Date: Rom
5/7/2008: This site, located south of site 102, is roughly triangular in
shape, bounded by the sea to its NW, a ridge (50 m high and rising further)
immediately to its NE, and a more gently rising slope to its SW, which was
terraced for agriculture. A denser scatter was observed in the northern
portion of the site, and a number of sherd types were found, including both
Roman coarse ware, fine ware, and roof tiles, one of which was stamped. In
the southern portion, a number of deep (approx. 3 m at the deepest) looters’
suggestion that was also mentioned by a local resident, though no remains
were found.
the site, a dense concentration of ceramic remains was visible on the surface,
in the midst of small fields terraced with stone walls. A number of roof tiles
and many vessel sherds were present in this concentration.
