During this same campaign, a short survey of the preserved mosaics in
Myndos was undertaken. 9 These pavements are now all hidden from view
by a protective layer. It is very desirable to include these works in the present
corpus along with the well preserved mosaic floors in Torba, 10 and another
mosaic pavement that occurs in a modern schoolyard in Gümüşlük. It is
intended that our mosaic survey later extend as far afield as Knidos to the
southeast and Miletos to the north of Bodrum after agreements have been
made with the various archaeological projects working in these places.

Other activities of the Danish participants of the Turkish-Danish Halikarnassos
Project in 2008
As in previous years the scientific members of the Danish team are carrying
out studies on the results from the field work during the year.
Signe Isager has studied inscriptions related to the Sanctuary of Apollo in
Halikarnassos and reported on this in a lecture held at The Danish Institute at
Athens 19th of February 2008 with title: “The Sanctuary of Apollo in Ancient
Halikarnassos- the epigraphical Evidence”. She also participated in “The 4th Turkish International Mosaic Symposium in Gazientep 6.-10. of June together
with Birte Poulsen, who gave a lecture on “Considerations on Motifs and
Mosaic Workshops”. Poul Pedersen reported on “Olympia and the Ionian
Renaissance” in a lecture at the Annual Meeting of the Danish Institute at
Athens, 4th of April. He reported on the activities of the Halikarnassos Project
2007 at the International Symposium in Ankara 26.-30. of May. He participated
at the XVII International Congress of Classical Archaeology in Rome 22.-26.
September with a contribution on: “The 4th century BC “Ionian Renaissance”
in European Architecture: A synthesis of a meeting of Persian financial culture
with Greek architectural tradition and Karian cultural ambitions?”
