The Coronavirus infection (Covid-19), which has
caused the whole world to go on full alert and has
been declared a pandemic by the World Health
Organization (WHO), continues to be a great risk
each passing day. The effects of this infection are
also of great importance for pregnant women.
While this is the case, there are several important
things pregnant women should be aware of.
Stating that a case where the virus passed from the mother
to the baby has not yet been encountered, Obstetrics and
Gynaecology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Emre Pabuçcu indicates
that we can not say that there is zero risk, while answering
questions about the relationship between Covid-19 and
pregnancy.
Are pregnant women considered as a risky group
for Coronavirus infection?
With a limited number of data available, we can say
that pregnant women do not seem to be a riskier group
compared to normal individuals, especially for Covid-19.
This may also be due to small number of cases. The same is
true for children. According to incoming publications, child
loss has not been reported yet. However, since immunity
will be suppressed in general during pregnancy, pregnant
women are considered as a risky group especially for
seasonal influenza (influenza a and b) and some other viral
infections.
Especially the influenza virus is quite dangerous. While the
problem is less common for normal individuals, serious
pneumonia may be observed in pregnant women. We can
not say such a thing for Corona yet. Looking at the available
data, there is no obvious increase of risk, especially in
pregnant women. This risk is mostly for people with
Dikkatli beslenme,
