ÖMER HAYYAM
Ömer Hayyâm is one of the most admired poets
and well-known scholars of the East. Hayyâm’s
influence on the development of mathematics
in general and analytical geometry in particular
is enormous. The most important fields that
Hayyâm contributed to are algebra. The equations
that were first discovered by Euclid as a
special case until the second degree were extended
by Ömer Hayyam.
For the first time in the history of mathematics,
Ömer Hayyam classified many algebraic equations
in this field, including third-order cubic
equations. Hayyâm is a poet known for his rubâîs.
The number of rubâîs reflecting its unique style
is around 100. It is the English translations made
by Edward Fitzgerald who introduced Hayyâm to
the West as a poet. Ömer Hayyam is the anonymous
hero of many theories and inventions,
although he has not written many of his works.
Although this great information is not clearly
known in Nîşâbur, it is estimated that he died at
the age of eighty-five in 1131/1132. The name of
Ömer Hayyam was given to a crater on the Moon
in 1970, and a comet that was newly discovered
in 1980.

the shores of North and Central America. These
world maps are made in color and on leather.
