Site No. 93.UTM East 242470 UTM North 4047670; Dating: HellThe site was identifi ed by a small concentration of roof tiles with few potterysherds. A layer of roof tiles is visible in a cut. These may be the remains of a single,small structure.Site No. 94; Site Name: Pınar Tepe (Map 2)UTM East 234610 UTM North 4046380; Dating: LB – Late Iron Age – Pers– Hell –ByzA small site on a hill 69 m high with some Alawite tombs, it overlooks thesite of Büyükdere (site 44). There are no visible remains of ancient structures.Late Bronze Age, Iron Age (late 7th and 6th centuries BC) and Persian periodpottery was found on the summit and on the slopes of the hill concentrated over anarea of 150x80 m. Site is probably to be identifi ed with the Phoenician settlementof Myriandros. The oldest textual evidence for this trading location in the Bayof İskenderun dates to around 400 BCE and was written by the Greek authorXenophon, who visited Myriandros and called it a “Phoenician emporion.” The siteis mentioned again in the 4th century BCE by the Pseudo-Skylax as “Myriandrosof the Phoenicians”.
