The area is a popular site of worship forAlawites in the region.Site No. 90; Site Name: Alawite Cemetery in KaraağacUTM East 245430 UTM North 4051010; Dating: Ott/ModernModern Alawite cemetery around the türbe of Şeyh Turhan Reyhani, it wasfounded after the death of the şeyh around 1860. Pottery was collected from a waterhole that was recently dug. The cemetery is threatened by recent constructionsin the municipality of Karaağaç. The preservation of the site is mainly the merit ofone individual, Naim Bıkmaz.Site No. 91.UTM East 243060 UTM North 4046770; Dating: HellThis site included a Hellenistic cemetery with cist-like tombs co<strong>ve</strong>red with largeroof tiles or stone slabs. All visible tombs are looted and destroyed by illicit diggers.Human bones and a few pottery sherds are scattered all o<strong>ve</strong>r the site in an areaof approximately 50 m diameter.Site No. 92.UTM East 242990 UTM North 4047660; Dating: Hell – ByzA concentration of pottery and roof tiles in an orchard, it included remainsof mosaics with fragments of the fl oor and tesserae still sticking together. Themosaics are of white limestone tesserae and were apparently associated withagricultural installations (farmhouses).182
