ZEYVE HÖYÜK (PORSUK) 2007Dominique BEYER 1On this South Cappadocian site, at the foot of the Taurus Mountain, onthe road to the Cilician doors, the archaeological work was devoted, like theprecedent seasons, to the eastern and western parts of the höyük, mostly onthe Iron and Late Bronze Age le<strong>ve</strong>ls 2 .I. Chantier IV. Eastern Part of the Höyük (Fig.1).Two mains areas:1. On the South-East slope, where the focus was to complete our knowledgeof the remains of the Late Bronze Age-Hittite empire.Squares K41/4<strong>2.</strong> The kazamat n°2 of the fortifications system:The first excavation days went on digging a <strong>ve</strong>ry small area, on the slope,of the Hellenistic le<strong>ve</strong>ls (Porsuk II). There was a good preser<strong>ve</strong>d earthen floorwith a kitchen pot in situ, but without good preser<strong>ve</strong>d walls. Here the remainsof Late and Middle Iron Age le<strong>ve</strong>ls had been destroyed by many pits. Justbelow, we found the summit of a red destruction layer, with many brokenkerpiç belonging, normally, to the Late Bronze Age le<strong>ve</strong>l (PorsukV, Hittiteimperial). For example, it is a big kerpiç of 60 by 40 by 13 cm. just below afloor (4085) with Iron activity traces. Kerpiç, gypsum, sandstones and woodenbeams fragments are remains of the superstructure of the west wall (04066) ofthe kazamat 2 (Fig. 1-2). On the top of the stones basement, some broken jarswere found (Fig. 3), and more strange, a big jar standing upright inside the1 Pr.
