RESCUE EXCAVATION OF THE ARCHAIC PANIONIONIN THE MYCALE (DİLEK DAĞLARI):3rd CAMPAIGN 2007Hans LOHMANN*Georg KALAITZOGLOUGundula LÜDORFDuring the survey campaign of 2004 a fortified Carian settlement of the7th cent. B.C. has been found at the southwestern slope of Mt. Çatallar tepe,approximately 800 m above sea level 1 . Within the fortification wall which,however, had never been completed, the heavily disturbed remains of anarchaic temple were visible. Under the auspices of the Museum of Aydın andits director Emin Yener, to whom I wish to express my sincere thanks, andwith kind permission of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museumsof Turkey a rescue excavation has been started in 2005 and continued in 2006and 2007 2 . By the end of the second campaign the temple had been completelyexcavated. Already during the first campaign of 2005 underneath the temple ofthe 6th cent.
