RURAL DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH IN THE FOREST VILLAGES OFBEYPAZARISUMMARYThe aim of this study, named “Rural Development Researches in the Beypazarı Forestvillages” that is done for the Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Institute of Natural andApplied Sciences Department of Forestry Engineering, as a M.Sc. thesis, is to evaluate theprojects of rural development in Karaşar town and Saray and Köseler villages, and to draw theprojections for development of the basin.To achieve in developmental efforts and to reach Turkey to the level of developedcountry are possible with the development of all social strata. While the life standart of peopleliving in urban areas is upper levels, the life standart of people living in rural areas remains atvery low levels.Developed forest villagers will minimize the pressure on forests. In this way, the forestwill be able to protect the prescribed standarts in time, and will be able to fulfill the functions.The research of the rural appraisal performed in the single basin will draw private appraisalprojections to this rural area. Application of projections and reaching success will form amodel for the development of other rural areas.The material of this research has been obtained from the related literature, interviewsheld by the managers of related institutions and surveys applied to people living in the basin.The surveys have been applied to randomly selected 174 (sample size method) villagers. 44questions were asked in the survey. This study was made by using rapid rural developmenttechnique. In the research, frequency and the percent distribution tables were used.In this research, it was determined and identified that economic resources of the basinis limited; people make their living from forestry and livestock; literacy rate in middle andsenior age is approximately 45%; people meet their needs vegetables and fruit fromBeypazarı. It was observed that majority of the young population had migrated to the cities,especially to Beypazarı and Ankara. ORKÖY projects in the basin among the years of 1979and 2000 had been made under the name of dairy cattle breeding, dairy sheep breeding,beekeeping and home loan implementations. In the years of 2007-2008, loan implementationswere made for solar energy system.v
