HYGIENIC CONDITIONS IN THE OIL-WRESTLING PLACES AND THE BASIC
HYGIENE HABITS OF OILWRESTLERS

ABSTRACT
The hygienic conditions of oil-wrestling training and competition areas in
Turkey,personal habits of wrestlers,environmental hygiene in oilwrestling places and hygiene
applications of employees in the establishments are searched in this study.
It is observed that there are differences in physical and hygienic contiditions of oilwrestling
places in Turkey and that new-built wrestling places have better contiditions in the
aspect of hygiene when compared with old ones.
Wrestlers states that they have to practice without sufficient first-aid materials and
health officer.It is determined that physical and medical measures are insufficient in
nationwide oil-wrestling foundations.
It is observed that the wrestlers attending the research have followed personal hygiene
rules as the wrestling age and educational status increases.Besides,it is discovered that there is
a relation between the success of wrestlers and their hygiene habits.
Skin diseases have emerged in several wrestlers due to lacking of wrestlers’ personal
body care(nail and beard cleaning and skin care) and deficient cleaning of wrestling training
areas by employees in the establishments.Inadequate warming of wrestlers,lacking physical
security precautions and training with a crowded wrestler group in the wrestling places result
in disabilities in most wrestlers.
According to the results of the research,it is determined that the physical condition and
hygienic features of active il-wrestling places,new-built il-wrestling areas and wrestling
saloons are paid attention and it is observed that wrestlers have some basic hygiene habits as
their wrestling age and educational degree increases.
