ABSTRACT<br />
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between doctor-nurse interaction<br />
and performance indicators of the hospital including; percei<strong>ve</strong>d technical quality of<br />
care, percei<strong>ve</strong>d effecti<strong>ve</strong>ness at meeting family member needs, percei<strong>ve</strong>d effecti<strong>ve</strong>ness<br />
at retaining nurses in the unit and job satisfaction in a public hospital. Research<br />
population consist of all the doctors and nurses who are working at clinics of Dr.<br />
Sami Ulus Children Health and Diseases Training and Research Hospital (Altındağ,<br />
Ankara). In this research, “Intensi<strong>ve</strong> Care Units Organization and Management<br />
Sur<strong>ve</strong>y” prepared by Shortell (1996a) was used as a data collection tool. The data<br />
collected through sur<strong>ve</strong>ys was analysed by Statistical Package for Social Science for<br />
Windows program (SPSS 13.0). As a result of the study; positi<strong>ve</strong>, weak and statistically<br />
significant relationships were found between doctor-nurse interaction and; percei<strong>ve</strong>d<br />
ability to meet patient needs, percei<strong>ve</strong>d effecti<strong>ve</strong>ness at retaining nurses in the unit),<br />
job satisfaction. There was a positi<strong>ve</strong>, moderate le<strong>ve</strong>l and statistically significant<br />
relationship between doctor-nurse interaction and percei<strong>ve</strong>d technical quality of care.<br />
