Opened mitral valve, neovascularization of anterior mitral leaflet (arrow). Acute rheumatic mitral valvulitis superimposed on chronic rheumatic heart disease. Small vegetations (verrucae) are visible along the line of closure of the mitral valve leaflet (previous fibrous thickening and fusion of the chordae tendineae)
