This study has been performed to compare conventional tillage, conservation
tillage and sowing systems on the way of technical and economical that is used for
growing the second crop silage corn. The study has been carried out on the lands of
Çukurova Agricultural Research Institute Directorate Hacıali Undertaking. On
conservation tillage and cultivation systems; the reduced tillage, band tillage, ridge
tillage and direct sowing techniques were practiced. The systems were examined and
analyzed in terms of the fuel consumptions, time consumptions, working efficiency,
the quality of feed index, multiples index, skip index, emergence rate index, mean
emergence date, the percentage of emergence, yield of corn green plant, the length of
plants, soil penetration strength and weed population.
All the end of analyzes, while the maximum efficiency on corn green plant has
been got on the reduce tillage technique; the minimum efficiency has been got on the
band tillage technique. The minimum performance on fuel consumption and the
maximum working efficiency have been got on direct sowing. They have saved time
and working efficiency at the rate of 85-92% by the helping of direct sowing.
Key Words : Tillage, sowing systems, second crop corn, silage,
