INTRODUCTION
The National Library of Turkey, founded by the law of 5632, has
been given responsibilities in order to meet educational and cultural
needs of the people of Turkey. To achieve these objectives the National
Library acts as a center to collect all materials published in the country
and abroad related to Turkish culture and other fields, to organize these
materials, and to provide effective research service.
One of the most important duties of the National Library is to
prepare and publish bibliographies. The Turkish National
Bibliography, being published since 1928, includes records of materials
received by the National Library according to the Legal Deposit Act.
Originally, the Turkish National Bibliography published only in
printed format for the use of researchers and institutions. With the
technological developments and increasing demand, CD version of the
bibliography has been produced. Thus, users will be able to reach the
records of materials they need for their research from various access
points.
The new application was started with the 2003 issues of Turkish
National Bibliography in CD format published monthly and in Turkish
and English with a browse and search program.
These issues will also be available in PDF format.
We are very pleased that this new project has been implemented
to provide better and effective service to research circle. It is our hope
that it will meet the needs of other people as well. We are trying to do
