TYPE AV1 PNEUMATIC POSITION TRANSMITTERCALIBRATIONMake sure the position transmitter is at maximum gain (Table 4-1)prior to making any adjustments. The positioner comes with themaximum gain hinge spring installed from the factory.The following description is based on a 20.7 to 103.4-kilopascal(3.0 to 15.0-pound per square inch gage) output for zero to100-percent travel of the actuator.1. Install an accurate pressure gage at the output connection (02port).2. Turn off the supply air.3. Slowly stroke the actuator to its zero position.4. Adjust the linkage between the transmitter and the actuatoruntil the cam follower is aligned with the zero line on the cam (Fig.3-8).5. Slowly stroke the actuator to the 100% position.6. Adjust the pivot position on the arm (Item 63, Fig. 9-3) or otherexternal linkage until the cam follower is at 100% of cam rotation(radial line marked 100 on the cam).7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 until the cam follower is at 0% camwhen the actuator is at 0% stroke and 100% cam when the actuatoris at 100% stroke.8. Turn on the air supply.9. Move the actuator to the 0% stroke position.10. If the output is not 20.7 kPa (3.0 psig), loosen the zero adjustmentset screw on the zero adjustment nut (Fig. 4-1). Turn thezero adjustment nut (while keeping the eyebolt from rotating) untila 20.7-kPa (3.0-psig) output is achieved.11. Tighten the zero adjustment set screw.12. Move the actuator to the 100% stroke position.13. If the output is not at 103.4 kPa (15.0 psig), loosen the spanadjustment screw and move the span adjustment assembly (Fig.4-1) along the cam follower arm until a 103.4-kPa (15.0-psig)reading is obtained.14. Tighten the span adjustment screw.CALIBRATIOND - 3

Repeat Steps 8 through 14 until the positioner is calibrated.NOTE: Moving the span adjustment assembly toward the valvebody provides a longer actuator stroke for a given signal change(i.e., increases the range of travel for the cam follower arm).Moving the span adjustment bearing away from the valve bodycauses the opposite to occur (i.e., decreases the range of travelfor the cam follower arm).CALIBRATIOND - 4
