1. Validation
The syllabus was validated on 2010-xx-xx by the Faculty Board at
Södertörns högskola according to the stipulations in the Higher
Education Ordinance, chapter 6, 7§.
2. Entry requirements
Acceptance on a PhD programme at Södertörn University.
3. Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the PhD students have acquired:
• advanced knowledge and understanding of the social context
and focus of the immediate research environment
• improved skills for applying and evaluating various research
projects and their practical applicability
• improved ability to understand and evaluate works built on
different research traditions
• deepened awareness of the inherent possibilities and
limitations of empirical research.
4. Course contents, modules and examinations
The purpose of this course is to introduce and integrate the students
to the research environment at Södertörn and its connections to
national and international researchers. In part, this purpose is met by
the regular participation in research seminars within the discipline
