12th, the SADF, security police and members of
the SAP took illegal occupation of our Centre.

and armed personnel of the defence force. At
7.30 am I was informed by the Major in charge
that no civilians were allowed access to the
building. When confronted by lawyers from
Legal Resource Centre, the Major was confused
as to the correct section of the Internal Security
Act being implemented. He quoted Section
50 but was informed that that section does not
allow for the prohibition of access. After contacting
his superiors, we were informed that he
was acting under the regulation of the State of
Emergency.
Immediately we contested this action in the
Supreme Court. Despite the delaying tactics
