It has never been easier to measure digital signals. For
the past three years we’ve seen how the availability of
signal analyzers has gotten larger and larger. At first it
was just modified digital TV receivers that were placed in
a housing that made it look like a signal analyzer.
But it’s not like that today anymore! The newest signal
analyzers are real analyzers that show real results.
Even operating these analyzers has become easier and
easier and, even more surprising, their measurement
precision has steadily improved while at the same time
the price for these signal analyzers has gotten lower and
lower. Is there any excuse not to measure digital signals
anymore? The answer is simply: no.
At the same time though the requirements are
increasing for everyone who gets involved with digital TV
installations. Since there are no longer any excuses to
install something correctly and to provide the installation
with a formal test protocol, every installer and system
designer must pay much closer attention than ever
before to correct values. Whatever you plan and install
has to be done much more carefully now.
This is a nice consequence from the increasing number
of signal analyzers that now more and more digital TV
professionals are able to afford. The quality of their
work will increase as a result. This is also necessary,
the complexity of today’s technology requires it. It’s a
parallel technological development: many of today’s
digital TV technologies are being utilized in the best
possible way in today’s signal analyzers.
In every issue of TELE-audiovision we present to you
an updated overview of all the currently available signal
analyzers. Take a look inside this issue starting on page
128. Even if you already have a signal analyzer, there
are a lot of new things to discover and more often than
not these new analyzers are quite affordable.
