Tavoite: The aim of the course is for students to activate and develop skills in the academic<br />
and professional English of their <strong>fi</strong>eld and to gain con<strong>fi</strong>dence to communicate in situations<br />
relevant to their studies and professional life. The intention is that students improve their<br />
ability to<br />
understand general and academic spoken language, extract information and identify<br />
viewpoints<br />
discuss academic topics, presenting ideas and opinions<br />
read and understand academic texts and extract information<br />
write clear and structured academic texts using the vocabulary of their <strong>fi</strong>eld<br />
communicate more fluently, clearly, accurately and spontaneously<br />
take responsibility for their own learning, through active engagement and selfevaluation.<br />
Sisältö: Depending on the particular needs of the group, the course will include<br />
practice and development of the skills needed to communicate with animal owners<br />
and veterinarians<br />
development of professional vocabulary in veterinary medicine<br />
writing texts relevant to the students’ academic and professional needs<br />
presenting and discussing topics related to veterinary medicine, such as animal<br />
husbandry, diagnostic methods and the treatment of animals<br />
becoming familiar with strategies and tools for future language development.<br />
