likely be to consolidate existing areas.

Umeå university has presented 12 (or 13, the numbers they report disagree
with each other) of its most established research programs. Looking at the
publication lists for each, it is apparent that the subject representative is an
author on nearly all of the publications in each program. Whether or not
that is problematic is difficult to assess, but it may indicate a potential problem
with the development and exchange of new ideas among researchers.
Work in the area of targeting the family in health care appears to be mature,
and to have been translated into practice. RCT studies in Odontological interventions
are a strength. A possible weakness is that not all of the groups
seem to be engaged in clearly translational work (which UmU has chosen
as the descriptor of what they do) and there does not seem to be much of a
plan for future work outside of the separate groups.
In terms of published research outputs, these are of high quality and are
worthy of a ‘B’ rating: ‘Internationally Excellent’. However, the lack of complete
information has made assessment difficult and it has not been possible
to provide an overall rating.
