2 KARTLÄGGNING OCH UTVÄRDERING AV SVENSK VÅRDFORSKNING – HUVUDRAPPORT OCH UNDERLAG FÖR VETENSKAPSRÅDETS REKOMMENDATIONER
Two research areas have achieved a good international reputation – Family
Focused Nursing and Centre for Society, Health and Care. There are two
nationally leading areas: eHealth Institute with a potential to develop internationally,
and Centre for Lifeworld-led Health, Care and Learning. The
Disability and Elderly Research group is one upcoming research area.
Need to focus on collaboration with highly ranked international partners
and journals in the top quartile for the subject area. Some research groups
(e.g. Lifeworld) need to connect more with real world health problems, professionals
and journals.
Overall rating: C (Internationally recognised)
LULEÅ UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
The research at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) covers nine areas
of activity; Nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, Health sciences,
Education, Machine elements, Fluid mechanics, Medical technology, Mobile
and pervasive computing.
Quality of Research
Nursing – this area of activity includes living with illness, E-health and education.
There is some evidence of national collaboration and leadership and
occasional highlights that indicate some international contribution.
Physiotherapy – this area covers 1) mobility activity and health, 2) health
promotion and 3) E-health. There is some evidence of regional / national
collaboration and some members of the group are part of an EU research
collaboration.
Occupational therapy – this is a new area of activity recently established in
2011 and is still in its developmental phase.
Health sciences – this area covers pharmacy, sports medicine and orthopaedics.
This group provides some evidence of international collaboration and
leadership. An extensive list of collaborators is provided but it is difficult to
determine the group’s contribution.
Education – the main focus is on communication technology as a tool for
people with disabilities. Very little information is provided and so it is difficult
to judge, although there is some evidence of a collaboration in the US.
Machine elements – the main focus is on biotribology and biomaterials.
Very little information provided. National and international collaborations
are mentioned though not in name.
Fluid mechanics – the main focus is on nano-particle transportation. Very
little information provided, no evidence of impact to date.
