2 KARTLÄGGNING OCH UTVÄRDERING AV SVENSK VÅRDFORSKNING – HUVUDRAPPORT OCH UNDERLAG FÖR VETENSKAPSRÅDETS REKOMMENDATIONER
Speech, music & hearing – few articles cited, publications in low impact journals.
(Internationally/Nationally recognised)
Technology and quality – few English language outputs, (Nationally recognised/Unclassified)
Sensors – modest output in sports and monitoring, (Nationally recognised)
Architecture – minor specialist journals, (Nationally recognised)
Excluded:
Computational neuroscience, Structural biotechnology and Physiology –
the panel do not agree that this comes within the definition of Care Sciences,
although the research is of good quality.
Research Collaborations and Networks (nationally and internationally)
Some groups e.g. HCI have relevant collaborations with clinical organizations
or e.g. Karolinska.
Some research groups collaborate in FP7 projects e.g. Computational
neuroscience.
Good to read that Technology & Quality in HC set up a Swedish research
network in their area, and are also in a Nordic network.
Future plans and potential
No plans included, but if greater collaboration across research groups is achieved,
then significant potential to contribute to Care Sciences.
Overall assessment
The lack of collaboration across groups was a disappointment and led to
some technology led projects with little appreciation / definition of real
clinical care problems.
Overall rating: D (Regionally/Nationally recognised)
LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY
Linköping University (LiU) defines Care Sciences as covering “the study of
the individual’s basic needs for health, daily life activities, reactions to disability,
illness and poor health, and the effects of care and treatment.” Also
included are aspects of self-care, prevention, and rehabilitation, and contextual
issues, as well as theories, methods, and technical and practical skills.
Main Research Areas
LiU has a longstanding tradition of research with Care Science, starting
