2 KARTLÄGGNING OCH UTVÄRDERING AV SVENSK VÅRDFORSKNING – HUVUDRAPPORT OCH UNDERLAG FÖR VETENSKAPSRÅDETS REKOMMENDATIONER
gic plans about research collaborations, outcomes, human, physical, financial
resources and links to wider institutional strategies. It must be important
for the Care Sciences in Sweden to establish interdisciplinary projects with
the explicit aim of discovering innovative solutions to “old” problems.
In conclusion, Care Sciences research is an important but complex area. Its
complexity and breadth often mean that governments have difficulty identifying
its activity and impact. The panel were pleased that there has been a
great deal of support for such research in Sweden. The Swedish Government
can be proud of much of the ongoing research activity in this field. In most
cases, the expert scientific panel was impressed with the research staffing
and infrastructure, research activities and outputs and future plans and collaborations.
However, as expected in a rapidly changing health agenda there
were some areas where improvements could be made. The panel hopes that
its recommendations will lead to further advances in care science research in
Sweden and contribute further to its international standing.
