Înacest context, la declanşarea programului CNCSIS pentrufinanţarea învăţământului superior, colectivul condus dedoamna Profesor Doctor Dana Iordăchescu a avut posibilitateaaccesării primelor fonduri. Laboratoarele de biologie celulară, culturi şimicroscopie au hote cu dublu flux laminar, incubatoareCO 2 , microscoape optice, flow-citometru, criotom, microtom, microscoape directe şi inversate cu fluorescenţă, concializein the best universities in Europe, but also the determinationof those who returned to the University ofBucharest, together with the belief that they can implementmodern concepts education and research at home and canbuild modern laboratories for the professional training ofstudents and graduates of the Biochemistry department haveproven instrumental. In this context, at the onset of theCNCSIS program to finance higher education, the teamheaded by PhD Dana Iordachescu was able to access the firstfunds. Projects such as CNFIS "Laboratory of animal cellcultures" 1999-2002, "Comprehensive program of postgraduateand doctorate studies in molecular biology" 1998-2002, and BCUM-BM "Research and training center inmolecular biology", coordinated by Prof. PhD MarietaCostache, founded modern research infrastructures of theDepartment of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The desire of the research team to achieve a qualitativeleap in the research field in institutions from Romania led totheir striving to access further national projects (CNCSIS,PNCDI, CEEX PNII). The total value of investment in infrastructureis worth more than 8,890,000 lei (1998-2009)of which 7,000,000 lei between 2005-2009.The 4 molecular biology laboratories are ISO17025/2005 accredited and fitted with high-performanceequipment for undertaking research, consultancy and servi -ces in the field of Genomics, Proteomics and Transcriptomics, the infrastructure including genetic analyzers, PCRequipments and Real-Time PCR and microarray platforms.Cell biology, cultures and microscopy laboratories have duallaminar flow hoods, CO2 incubators, microscopes, opticalflow cytometers, cryotome, microtome, direct and invertedfluorescence microscopes, confocal, laser microdissection. In the 3 biochemistry laboratories we undertake qualitative22
