IRRIGATION OF DIFFERENT CROPS ON THE BASIS OF DATE
CONCERNING THE CLIMATE, CROP AND SOIL INCLUDED IN THE
PROGNOSIS PROGRAM OF THE U.S.A. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF ADAPTATION EXISTING IN ROMANIA
The computer program of the USA Department of Agrioulture used in the
irrigation prognosis of crops on the basis of dimate, soil and cropping conditions
alre presen:ted, as well as the possibilities of its adapiJation to the Iconk:litions
existing in Romania. The program consist in evaluation of water deficit in the soi!
on the basis of elements composing a belance consisting of inputs (precipitations,
irrigations) and outputs (evapotranspiration, percolation undeI" the root region of
soil). The water balance is evaluated weekly on the basis of climate date (sun
radiation, temperature, wind speed, precipitations), as well as on the basis of data
concerning the growing stage of the crop, the amount of water applied by irrigation
as well as the efficiency of irrigation waterapplied in the saH. The advantage
of using such a program consist in the fact that on the ba8is of a minimum
amount of data obtained from the eX'Perimental station (evapotranspiration of crops
an short periods) and from the farm (precipitations, irrigations), the Irrigation
System Center can make rapide, weekly evaluations an the irrigation starting
moment as well as an the amaunt of water to be applied per plots and crops.
The possibilities and measures to be applied in ardeI' of adaptation and improvement
of this program of scientific management of crop irrigation as considering
the conditions of our country; the program may be a real use in irrigation of
potato crops
