Bine aţi venit la ediţia a IV-a a festivalului
TEMPS D’IMAGES !
It's all beginning on a TV show, and
then goes dismantling: Michael
Forester, an olympic athlete and a star,
is invited to promote a documentary
about his own life, “I am fabulous”. In
this world of images, guest after guest,
avatars are multiplying, preventing
us from distinguishing reality and
fiction. The whole thing twirls into a
vortex where the ideas of “models”
and individual personality are floating
by: who are we, who can we be, and
who would we want to be? Three
characters are writing the destiny of
common people with sometimes
ordinary, sometimes extraordinary
ideas, solutions, energies.
The Dahu Company works
on creations mixing different
stage materials - photos, videos,
sounds, dance, texts - to question
contemporary subjects. It is meant to
study, in an artistic laboratory, how
social standardizations, personalities,
opinions, beliefs are operating. And
finally to ask a simple question: what
can we change, and do we really want
to change?
Trei personaje scriu destinul umanității, folosind idei,
Dance, Dance, Otherwise We’re Lost!
With his 3D movie „Pina”, the celebrity-director Wim Wenders has created an outstanding monument of art - a film shaped
by exquisite and touching images. Never before had a video camera been able of capturing so authentically Pina Bausch’s
unique aesthetics. Via his tribute to Pina, Wenders reached a critical juncture in modern documentaries and, as a result, this is
the first documentary movie nominated for the <strong>20</strong>12 Oscar Award.
After the movie showing, Robert Sturm, the artistic-manager of the „Pina Bausch” Theater, as well as Anna
Wehsarg - one of the documentary’s proeminent characters, will answer questions coming from the audience.
Pina Bausch was born in 1940, in Sollingen, Germany. As one of Kurt Jooß’s brilliant students, she got a scholarship
at the „Julliard” School of Art in New York, where she studied dance. Back in Germany, she had gradually distanced
herself from the traditional dance forms, and the permanent break happened with the show „Le Sacre de Printemps”.
Pina’s productions at the Wuppertal Theater, which is now named after her, had stirred controversy for entire decades.
Pina Bausch died unexpectedly in <strong>20</strong>09.
a creaţiei Pinei Bausch.
din New York.
6 Anna Wehsarg’s Workshop will be designed as a twoclass
learning experience – technical and composition/
improvisation. The ”Techniques Class” will use Joos-
7
Leeder’s technique of modernity, which is specific
to the Folkwang Dance School where the renowned
dancer Pina Bausch had trained and developed her
choreographic style.
The second class will thus focus on Pina Bausch’s dance
language, as a means of searching for movements, little
details, and specifics that make up every participant’s
unique, personal style.
Cel
Born in Essen, Germany, Anna graduated in 1997 at
the ”Musische Gymnasium Essen-Werden”. Between
1997 and 1999, she studied dance and ballet in
Lausanne, Switzerland, at ”L’Ecole Rudra Bejart”, while
concomitantly collaborating as a guest to Lausanne’s
“Bejart Ballet”. From 1999 to <strong>20</strong>00, Anna was a
dancer at ”Groupe 13”, a young dancers company
that was founded by Maurice Bejart. Since <strong>20</strong>00 to
present, Anna has been a member of the ”Tanztheater
Artiştii întruchipează o reflexie incomodă a unui trecut
of the recent past
The exhibition brings together video documentations
of performances by artists Anca Benera and Arnold
Estefan, on the one hand, and Alexandra Pirici together
with a group of performers, on the other. Both works
have been produced in <strong>20</strong><strong>11</strong> and stage moments of
encounter between the artists and Romania’s history. In
Pacta sunt servanda, Anca Benera and Arnold Estefan read
simultaneously, in Romanian and Hungarian, one in front
of each other, from their respective history schoolbooks,
passages treating the same moments, but offering
contradictory perspectives.
[If you don’t want us, we want you], the work of Alexandra
Pirici, represents different enactments of living sculptures,
confronting public heroic monuments and buildings in
Bucharest, such as the controversially rebuilt equestrian
statue of Carol I, the monument of the 1989 Revolution or
the House of the People.
The artists embody the awkward reflexion of a past that is
all too questionable despite its apparent immutability, with
well-rooted and imposing effects on the present. In the
uneven relationship between their voices or bodies and
the written word, the stone or the bronze, they manage to
cast doubt upon their objects of reference, to reveal them
as the real ghosts.
Wojtek Ziemilski
In the autumn of <strong>20</strong>06, Wojtek Ziemilski found out that
his grandfather, Wojciech Dzieduszycki, a notable citizen
of the city of Wroclaw (Poland), had been a long-time
collaborator of the communist secret police. While his
family’s trying to recover from the shock and to grapple
with the truth, Wojtek addresses these concerns in a
lecture form, by combining personal narration, historical
facts, contemporary choreography, and small narratives.
He attempts to confront his artistic choices with the
history that he couldn’t influence via lecture-performance,
which mixes various forms of public address and artistic
expression: personal confession, academic lecture, video
art, and contemporary choreography. As a result, theater
intermingles with reality, private narration with historical
commentary - all this in order to cope with the painful
problem of memory and its manipulations.
Wojtek Ziemilski is a theatre director and a visual artist.
His work is set on the edges of theatre, visual arts, and
choreography. Ziemilski’s contemporary approach to
theatre focuses particularly on devising techniques, the
new-dance’s (”non-danse”) input to theatricality, and on
the use of fact on stage.
small
narration
Wojtek Ziemilski este regizor și artist vizual. Opera

“overfloW of people or overfloW of ideas.
the pioneers of romanian independent theatre post 1989.”
Overall, Romanian theater institutions make up a unique
paradigm: the repertoire theater - publicly funded -
namely, the institutionalization of “art theater.” The idea
of “independence,” however, seeks the re-introduction
of risk, ephemeral, and that of mobility of theatrical
productions. Thus, the independent theater pressures
the “theater system” and one intriguing question arises:
“Is there an overflow of people in this field or rather an
overflow of ideas?” While publicly funded “state theaters”
are still monopolizing the inherited infrastructure,
independent productions are considered their “parasites,”
a sort of a hybrid, a “mulatto.” Even more, while many
“beginnings” had sprouted in the 90’s, only few of them
have reached fruition. Nonetheless, in Romania, we could,
at least, witness a “genealogy of theater independence.”
„independență” urmărește reintroducerea riscului, a
efemerului, dar și a mobilității creației teatrale. Teatrul
suntem martorii unei “genealogii a independenței.”

yourself and stands for “you”. Finally, the project also tries to establish a small
Psychic comfort, vitality and voluptuousness emerge out of this innovative
Mihaela Dancs, who, among others, has collaborated with Rui Catalao, Carmen
Coţofană, Vava Ștefănescu and Robin Dingemans, has presented her work in
theaters, apartments, attics, churches, factories, and dance studios from Bucharest,
Cluj, New York, San Diego, to London. In <strong>20</strong>10, she became a danceWeber while in
<strong>20</strong>09 she has started coaching movement labs for non-professionals.
Alexandra Pirici is a Bucharest-based performance
artist. Among others, she presented her work at
the Balkan Dance Platform, Bucharest Biennale,
Tanzquartier Vienna, Kanuti Gilde Saal, Talinn,
Nottdance Festival, UK, and Kunstmule, Germany.
„dacà noi nu ne vreØi,
noi và vrem” (to-and-fro in the dust)
Dance Platform, Bucharest Biennale, Tanzquartier Vienna,
Kanuti Gilde Saal – Talinn, Nottdance Festival – UK și
Kunstmule – Germany.
Mădălina Dan studied choreography at the University of Drama and Film, in
Wien, Balkan Dance Platform, Novi Sad, Explore Dance Festival, Bucharest, Temps
D’Images Festival, Cluj, SouthBank Center & the Chisenhale Dance Space London,
Fabrik Potsdam, and DTW New York.
David Schwartz is a theatre director, mainly interested in developing projects
that intimately analyze social and community issues.
Mihaela Michailov is a playwright and a performing arts critic as well. Her plays
have been translated into English, French, German and Hungarian.
Heated Heads is conceived as an archive of the 13-15 June 1990 theatre
performances. The project documents over thirty interviews with primary
social actors involved in June 1990’s events. Heated Heads exposes the fragility
of underground historical records, and so is completing official history and
arguing that history is, in fact, made up of multiple and multi-faceted pieces of
the truth.
The “13-15 June 1990” project documents vulnerable aspects of recent history
in order to open more perspectives, either on previously known events or
on completely forgotten memories. In Heated Heads, both contradictory and
complementary testimonies are gathered, which focus on a fundamental
question: “Who makes our history, the events, their blurry memory? Who
creates the public records of those who were and who are still in power?”
http://capeteinfierbantate.blogspot.com
deșeurile arhivate; se pun deoparte lucrurile reciclabile;
se așează toate cu grijă în diferite părți din noul corp;
specifice multor genuri muzicale - rezultatul fiind o muzică
Work
in factories!
The project At work in factories! conceived by The
Department of Temporary History documents,
archives and builds performative representations
for one of the most consistent social communities in
Romanian recent history – the factory.
Seen as a space of perpetual “workplace”, the factory
shapes our mental and physical relation to the society
of workers, their visible and invisible products. In
factories we: work, talk, produce temporary histories,
socialize in smaller or bigger communities, accept,
fear, fight, re-produce circles of silence.
Proiectul At work in factories! a fost conceput de Catedra de
Bogdan GEORGESCU - artist, observer, social activist.
Artistic tools: playwriting, community theatre,
video creation, direction, and production, social
intervention, project management. TangaProject
initiator and founder of Active Art - the process
of revealing the work of art within each of us;
transforming everyday life into a collective work of art.
In 1864, when the Constitution and the first modern
Criminal Code was adopted in Romania and Moldova,
same-sex relationships weren’t at all incriminated. In
1995, Moldova eliminated the article incriminating
same-sex relationships, dating from 1937, following
Nazi-Germany model. Sadly, today, June <strong>20</strong><strong>11</strong>, the
anti-discrimination bill is being withdrawn from the
Moldavian Parliament because of its mentioning of
“sexual orientation” stereotype. The anti-discrimination
law would have primarily protected all minorities
against abuse of authority and other types of public
discrimination. Political leaders employ demagogic and
ignorant statements suggesting that homosexuality is
rooted in “psychiatric disorders” and they are arguing,
for instance, that “It’s like we would set free sick people
from the psychiatric wards and send them downtown.
I won’t vote.” In fact, politicians are using this type of
prejudicial rhetoric for electoral gain, promising the
voters “normal families”.
Bogdan GEORGESCU – artist, observaţionist, activist
social. Unelte artistice: dramaturgie, teatru comunitar,
prejudicioase de genul: „Sunt niște dereglări, natura-i
psihiatrie oamenii bolnavi și-i aducem la Ștefan cel
Mare, nu? Nu voi vota”. Folosindu-se de această retorică,
oamenii politici intră în campanii electorale, promițând
familii „normale.”
