Impactul rezultatelor asupra comunităţii<br />

ştiinţifice şi societate<br />

Rezultatele obţinute răspund aşteptărilor în urma investiţiilor<br />

care s-au făcut în ultimii ani în infrastructura centrului<br />

atât prin proiectele naţionale CNCSIS, cât şi prin alte<br />

proiecte naţionale, internaţionale şi interne ale universităţii.<br />

Centrul <strong>de</strong> Nanobiofotonică si Microspectroscopie Laser a<br />

introdus mai multe proceduri originale <strong>de</strong> nanofabricaţie<br />

care s-au dovedit a fi rapi<strong>de</strong>, ieftine şi performante, bazate<br />

fiind pe meto<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> autoasamblare si nanolitografie coloidală<br />

şi a produs noi arhitecturi plasmonice multiscalare. Recent<br />

s-au obţinut substrate SERS stabile şi reproductibile care<br />

expun hot-spot-uri capabile pentru <strong>de</strong>tecţia unimoleculară.<br />

Cu ajutorul echipamentului din dotare efectuăm analize prin<br />

corelarea informaţiei <strong>de</strong> natură chimică cu cea nanotopografică<br />

prin combinarea meto<strong>de</strong>i spectroscopice Raman<br />

cu microscopia <strong>de</strong> forţă atomică şi oferim astfel servicii pentru<br />

i<strong>de</strong>ntificarea distribuţiei unor componente chimice în<br />

probe soli<strong>de</strong> neomogene din ştiinţa materialelor, stiinţele<br />

vieţii, geologie, farmacie, în probe alimentare şi opere <strong>de</strong><br />

artă, etc.<br />

Recent trei dintre membrii centrului (M. Baia, S.<br />

Aştilean şi T. Iliescu) au publicat cartea "Raman and SERS<br />

investigations of pharmaceuticals" într-o editură internaţională<br />

<strong>de</strong> prestigiu, Springer-Verlag (2008). Directorul<br />

centrului, Prof. dr. Simion Astilean, este autor a peste 100<br />

articole din care 75 ISI, 3 capitole în cărţi internaţionale, a<br />

cumulat peste 550 citări in<strong>de</strong>pen<strong>de</strong>nte ISI şi are un in<strong>de</strong>x<br />

The Expected Impact of the Results<br />

on the Scientific Community and Society<br />

Our high level of scientific results are consistent with<br />

the level of investment in infrastructure and human resource<br />

ma<strong>de</strong> in these years from the support of national, international<br />

and university grants. The Nanobiophotonics and<br />

Laser Microspectroscopy Center has <strong>de</strong>veloped many original<br />

procedures of nanofabrication, based on self-assembling and<br />

colloidal nanolithography which allowed us to promote new<br />

plasmonic multi-scale architectures. Recently, we <strong>de</strong>monstrated<br />

a new SERS substrate which exhibits stability and<br />

reproducibility toward single molecule SERS <strong>de</strong>tection. We<br />

offer a high performance instrumentation based on a modular<br />

optical microscope equipped with scanning confocal<br />

Raman and AFM facilities for combined chemical and topographical<br />

surface analysis. We are able to characterize, i<strong>de</strong>ntify<br />

and image non-<strong>de</strong>structively many chemical compounds<br />

in materials science, life science, geology, pharmaceutical,<br />

food industry and artwork.<br />

Three members of our center (M. Baia, S. Aştilean and<br />

T. Iliescu) have recently published (2008) the book „Raman<br />

and SERS investigations of pharmaceuticals” at the prestigious<br />

Springer-Verlag editor. The book comprises their main<br />

results got in the last 10 years of research.<br />

The Center director, Prof. dr. Simion Astilean, has<br />

authored and co-authored over 100 refereed journal publications<br />

from which 75 papers are published in ISI journals<br />

with more than 550 citations and a Hirsch in<strong>de</strong>x of 12.<br />
