Clujul Medical 2006 vol. LXXX - nr. 1 Cognitive performances were assessed by administering Ray Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT), Trail making Test A (TMA) and Trail making Test B (TMB). Tests were administering at 10 days after date of last alcohol use and at 5-6 weeks after date of last alcohol use for following course of cognitive functions. Frontal and parietal neurocognitive functions were assessed using Trail Making Test A and B (7). The test is thought to require executive control, specifically flexibility of thinking and a greater demand of working memory. Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (8) is a test for episodic memory which relies on semantic memory because well-known words are used. Results Statistics for performance on cognitive test revealed significant difference between the patients and the control subjects. At baseline, difference versus controls was found in the score for TMA (F=32.56, p
Clujul Medical 2006 vol. LXXX - nr. 1 The verbal memory, evaluated by RAVLT, recorded a similar range and dynamics over time. In the patients with chronic alcoholism, verbal memory was worse then control subjects. RAVLT scores of patients, at baseline, was significant less then RAVLT score of controls (F=79.024, p
