Preliminary research of polyphenolic compounds from
Viola Tricolor l. (Violaceae)
ANCA TOIU, ILIOARA ONIGA, M. TĂMAŞ
Summary
We have initiated a phytochemical study of the polyphenolic compounds
(flavonoids, polyphenol carboxylic acids, tannins, anthocyanins, proanthocyanins)
contained in the aerial parts of Viola tricolor L., harvested from different regions and
time periods. The qualitative analysis and the quantitative determinations were made
using chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods. We have identified rutoside
and caffeic acid, and after hydrolysis, quercetol and kaempferol as flavonoid
aglycones. In all five analysed samples, we have determined the content in flavonoids
(0,508-1,992%), polyphenol carboxylic acids (0,098-0,687%), tannins (0,798-
2,821%), anthocyanins (12,353-28,643 *10 -3 %) and proanthocyanins (0,071-0,135%).
