Summary
Our case presents an improvement of the maxillary anterior region in a young
patient with an evident discrepancy between the gingival margins of the central incisors.
In order to align the marginal gingiva according to esthetical criteria, we decided to
combine two surgical techniques. For the posttraumatic elongated crown (21) we
decided to apply a free gingival flap from the palate. For the remaining anterior teeth,
because of the permissive biological width, we decided to perform a gingivectomy in
order to obtain the optimal dental proportion. After the optimal periodontal healing, the
final crowns applied were all ceramic Empress 1.
Key words: free connective tissue graft, gingivectomy, gingival margin line,
dental proportion.
