Abstract
The Fine Arts Oporto Academy created in 1836 admits its first female student in 1882. Between 1842 and
1887 the press and Catalogs of Triennial Exhibitions of the Fine Arts Oporto Academy testify the
presence of 75 women and their works, some with a male or female teacher. The aim of this study is to
characterize their artistic presentation and its connection with contemporary feminine educational model.
Their personal identification has been made through Parochial Books and reached about 75% women.
and married. The decline of embroideries at the Exhibitions matches with the increase presence of
chose mostly Death-Nature genre, a few numbers on portraits and a single self-portrait. The association
of Drawings or Painting, at a basic level of learning, and Music lessons brought by de research is a
strong evidence for these women represents a model of feminine Education subscribed by Oporto
A análise
A associação do nível
do Porto.
Palavras-chave – Belas-Artes, Ensino artístico, Artistas, Educação feminina no século XIX, Burguesia
