In the steppe of Kazakhstan, a fabulous adaptation of Machiavel
and his theories about power and how to get it. This film is about the
struggle and the revenge of a man, Arzu, whose wife has been
murdered by the all–powerful criminal boss of the region. Confronted
with the subtle anger of this man, an invalid ex–soldier, he is going to be
shown the wrath of the weak. A great example of the emergent cinema
of this region, coming from a multi–awarded director. Selection of the
Venice Festival.
ADILKHAN YERZHANOV
Nasceu em 1982, realizador e argumentista, já venceu
13 prémios internacionais e é presença regular no Festival
de Veneza onde já apresentou este "Goliath" (2022) e "Yellow
Cat" (2020). É ainda conhecido por "The Plague of Karatas Village"
(2016), premiado no Festival de Roterdão, e "A Dark, Dark Man"
(2020), entre outros. Os seus filmes são apresentados em grandes
festivais como San Sebastian, Cannes, Montréal, Tallinn ou Veneza.
Born in 1982, this screenwriter and director has already 13
international awards and is a regular presence in the Venice Festival
where he presented this film, "Goliath" (2022) and "Yellow Cat"
(2020). He is also known for "The Plague of Karatas Village" (2016),
awarded at the Rotterdam Festival, and "A Dark, Dark Man" (2020),
among others. His films have been screened in San Sebastian, Cannes,
Montréal, Tallinn and Venice.

Realizador chinês conhecido pelas suas curtas–metragens
"Father knows Best" (2015) e "To Pimp a Butterfly" (2017),
já com 14 prémios internacionais. "Lost in the Stars" é a sua
primeira longa–metragem.
Chinese director, known for the shorts "Father knows Best" (2015)
and "To Pimp a Butterfly" (2017), already with 14 international
awards. "Lost in the Stars" (2023) is his first feature.
LIU XIANG
Liu Xiang é um realizador, director de fotografia e argumentista
chinês. Formou–se em Fotografia na 3IS Film School em
França e tem trabalhado tanto na China como em França. Foi
director de fotografia na longa–metragem Erdos Rider (2014),
seleccionada para o 44º Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Desde 2019 passou à realização. Na sua primeira longa–
metragem "Knock Knock" (2021) foi igualmente argumentista
e director de fotografia. Este filme foi seleccionado para o
11º festival de Pequim.
Liu Xiang is Chinese director, cinematographer and screenwriter.
He graduated from 3IS Film School in France with a degree in
Cinematography who has long been engaged in photographic
work in both China and France. He served as the cinematographer
for the feature film Erdos Rider (2014), which was nominated for
the 44th Rotterdam International Film Festival. Since 2019
he has transitioned into directing. For his feature directorial debut
Knock Knock (2021), he served as director, screenwriter and cinematographer.
The film was nominated for 11th Beijing International
Film Festival.
