schools, parks, bus station, ICU beds, sports fields and courts.
All areas will be covered. I’m sure that at the end of my term,
the Cabreúva citizen will be able to notice great changes.
Cabreúva will receive investments never seen before. Progress
has finally knocked on our door and we are already feeling
its benefits.
You took over as Mayor at a difficult
time for the world, which is facing the COVID-19
pandemic. How does the management evaluate when
facing this challenge while making the city keep
advancing and growing?
Really 2021 was not an easy year for anyone, especially
for government officials, who are responsible for bringing
solutions to the population. When we took office, the pandemic
was already claiming many lives, experts were warning of a
second wave even more dangerous and contagious, in the first
few months. Knowing this, in the first days of my term, we
planned to set up the “Covid 19 Rearguard Center”, for the
exclusive care of patients contaminated by the virus. We did!
We equipped the place with all the requirements to bring
safety to patients and also to the medical team that worked
tirelessly in the most difficult months of the pandemic. It took
eight months of work at this location, hundreds of calls and
many lives saved as a result of this action by our government.
Our government knows the importance of each life and we
made a great effort so that the Rear Guarda Center was
successful in treating our citizens. We were extremely happy
to be able to count on this resource at a unique moment
in human history. With vaccination it was no different, we
had difficulty in the beginning, because the population had
great expectations to receive the vaccine. However, solutions
were soon created that streamlined the service and vaccines
arrived for everyone. Our city has even become a reference
among the municipalities in the region. Today, thanks to
the work of the Department of Health, the percentage of
vaccinated is almost total, there is no shortage of vaccines
and health posts are open waiting for the population, which
has not yet been immunized. We campaign and publish on
our official channels where vaccinations take place. I take
this opportunity to ask those who have not completed the
immunization to go to a place where vaccination takes place
and receive their vaccine. It is very important that everyone
completes the immunization. It is clear that after the start
of the vaccination everything started to improve. We need
everyone to join! Faced with this new scenario, with the
population immunized, the city is returning to normal. Our
government has always known about the difficulties that the
pandemic has brought to all of us, it has never been omitted,
it has sought resources so that no one is in need, especially
on the issue of “hunger”. We did a lot of fundraising efforts.
The Social Fund and Social Assistance distributed thousands
of basic baskets, vegetables, hygiene products, gel alcohol
and masks. We talked directly with the city’s merchants and
entrepreneurs to seek solutions to minimize the impact on the
city’s economy. Our management has open doors, we are here
to serve the Cabreuvana population, whatever the demand,
we will look for ways, within the legality to help. We really
hope that from this year everything can return to normal. So
we can spend more energy on other fronts of our government,
since in 2021 the pandemic consumed much of this strength.
In December 2021, the project that
creates the Metropolitan Region of Jundiaí, of which
Cabreúva becomes a part, was sanctioned. What is the
importance of this achievement for the region and what
benefits can be extracted from it?
With the approval of the bill, which transformed the
urban agglomeration of Jundiaí into the Metropolitan
Region of Jundiaí, the cities of Jundiaí, Cabreúva, Campo
Limpo Paulista, Itupeva, Louveira, Jarinu and Várzea
Paulista – totaling almost one million people – become have
advantages in regional economic development and in the
integrated planning of public policies for this new region.
Areas such as health, housing, security, water supply and
waste treatment, among others, will be directly benefited
and with more autonomy in relation to other regions of the
State. Undoubtedly, this new model of partnership between
the cities will bring much more investment and consequently
more employment and income for Cabreúva, benefiting both
the city and the inhabitants. I’m very happy and excited
about everything that can happen from now on.
Cabreúva has several points of tourist
interest, such as Serra do Japi, the Historic Center and
the Kadampa Brasil Meditation Center. Recently, the
city won the Percurso Museum, highlighting several
points of the city. How the city plans to boost tourism?
Our city is really privileged. We have many tourist
attractions around here. Nature is extremely rich, we have
a lot of native forest, waterfalls, lakes, trails, farms and a lot
of history. Cabreúva was once the city of cachaça. Here there
were numerous stills, which produced excellent brandies. Today,
there are still some very good stills and stills awarded at national
festivals, taking the name of Cabreúva throughout Brazil. Another
highlight of our city is the tourism called two-wheel tourism. Every
weekend, our city receives thousands of tourists looking to exercise
by the river on Estrada Parque. According to cyclists who visit the
city, the stretch of road that cuts through Cabreúva owes nothing
to roads in other countries they frequent. Our management is
aware of the importance of tourism for the city’s economy and has
been studying actions that will promote these potentials in the
region. As well as generating more opportunities for those who
wish to undertake and invest in this sector. Cabreúva has a lot to
grow with tourism, we are 45 minutes from the capital of SP. The
ease of finding a quiet and rural environment, with quality for
the practice of outdoor sports, should certainly be used to attract
more visitors.
Economic development is a subject that is
always on the agenda. What actions has the city been taking
and plans to take to continue growing and attracting new
industries, while also privileging small entrepreneurs and
producers?
Our municipality has enormous potential for the
industry. We have a great location and are close to
major urban centers, such as the capital of São Paulo.
We also border the Bandeirantes highway, which is
considered the best highway in Brazil. We are close
to Viracopos airport, in Campinas, which makes us
a “HUB” for companies that need quick, easy and
quality access to sell their productions. These qualities
that I have described alone serve as an incentive for
any industry to come and settle here. Our challenge, as
a management, is to train our citizens so that they can
take advantage of the opportunities of these companies,
which are setting up here. For that, we created the
Secretary of Agriculture and Economic Development.
Through it, we have created partnerships such as
SEBRAE,, SENAI and other entities, which form and
qualify the population through professional training
courses aimed at the needs of local companies. We can
train a good number of professionals, who will be
able to integrate the teams of large companies in our
municipality.
