“Quer através do sentido metafórico ou concreto, Jardim
Botânico é um lugar onde a diversidade encontra o espaço
desejado para construir e revelar-se, para constituir
afirmações acerca das potencialidades da pintura. São
paisagens-retratos que reflectem uma busca pessoal e
intimista do processo criativo, bem como expressam a
descoberta da necessidade eminente de quebra com
alguma rigidez técnica da perspectiva transportando-nos,
assim, para imagens mais bidimensionais, potenciadoras
também de outras ilusões.
A obra de Maria Condado tem seguido uma abordagem de
pesquisa e experimentação artística onde a construção de
cenários (paisagens e retratos) se rege pela simbiose entre
natureza e artificialidade. É, nesse registo, que as atmosferas
exploradas evoluem para o sistema de conjugação e
convivência entre, ora a ausência de elementos, ou a sua
última profusão. Gera-se, portanto, a proposta de um “limbo
pictórico” entre a importância da linha/forma e a cor, sem
desobedecer no entanto à organização de conteúdos que
uma certa abstracção poderia porventura incentivar.
A artista apresenta uma combinação entre duas fases
pictóricas que, em todo o caso, algo se diferenciam das
pinturas expostas anteriormente: por um lado, surgem
paisagens com a pontuação de personagens identificadas
como retratos; por outro lado, paisagens onde a aridez e a
ruína outrora proeminentes se desenvolveram na
representação mais densa da natureza, e cujo cariz
ornamental e pormenorizado lhe confere agora um estado
de rejuvenescimento e de (re)encontro com o presente.”

“Through its metaphorical or concrete meaning, the
Botanical Garden is a place where diversity finds the desired
space to construct and reveal itself, to make statements
about the potentialities of painting. They are portraitslandscapes
that reflect a personal and intimate pursuit of
the creative process, as well as express the discovery of the
imminent need to break with some technical rigidity of
perspective, thus transporting us to more two-dimensional
images, enhancing also other illusions.
Maria Condado's work has followed an approach of
research and artistic experimentation where the
construction of scenery (landscapes and portraits) is
governed by the symbiosis between nature and artificiality. It
is in this register that the exploited atmospheres evolve into
the system of conjugation and coexistence between now
the absence of elements, or their last profusion. Therefore,
the proposal of a “pictorial limbo” is generated between the
importance of line / shape and color, without disobeying the
organization of contents that a certain abstraction might
perhaps encourage.
The artist presents a combination of two pictorial phases
that, in any case, differ from the paintings previously
exposed: on the one hand, landscapes appear with the
punctuation of characters identified as portraits; on the
other hand, landscapes where the once prominent aridity
and ruin developed into the denser representation of
nature, whose ornamental and detailed character now gives
it a state of rejuvenation and (re) encounter with the
present. ”
