Tanzania is a country in Africa which is
located on the East coast of the continent,
being washed by the Indian Ocean and
limiting to the North with Kenya, the
Northwest with Rwanda, Uganda and
Burundi, to the West by the Democratic
Republic of the Congo, to the Southwest
with Zambia and to the South by Malawi and
Mozambique. The Arabs and the Persians
were the first settlers of the area in the 17th
and 18th centuries. In World War I, the
British and the Germans were discussed by

Tanganyika and Zanzibar.

The Masai, African tribe that
inhabits parts of Northern
Tanzania and southern Kenya,
are one of the most well
known people there. Being a
semi-nomadic people, of high
stature and in which men are
educated and trained to be
warriors. They are known to
your outfit: a cloth, usually red,
called Shuka. And for its ability
to jump high, a sign of
strength for the Masai, who do
competitions to see who is the
better. The cattle is your first
source of food, thus protected
from other animals. It is
customary to be negotiations
and exchange of food
between Masai tribes. The
currency used is usually the
own cattle. Is a patriarchal
society, where most decisions
are taken by older men. The
wealth and power of a Masai
are measured by the number
of oxen and cows that have, in
addition to the number of
children.

OMY
With an
underdeveloped
economy, subsistence
agriculture is the main
source of manpower
and financial
income,corresponding
to 85% of exports.
Aproximadamente 80%

industrial atua nos
seguintes segmentos:
alimentício, mineração
(principalmente o ouro),
petroquímico, têxtil,
madeireiro, fertilizantes,
entre outros. A
população é composta
por vários grupos étnicos
e enfrenta diversos
problemas
socioeconômicos.
Conforme dados
divulgados em 2010 pela
Organização das Nações
Unidas (ONU), o Índice de
Desenvolvimento Humano
(IDH) da Tanzânia é de
apenas 0,398. Entre os
fatores responsáveis por
essa média estão: baixa
expectativa de vida (51,6
anos); elevada taxa de
mortalidade infantil (62
para cada mil nascidos
vivos); mais da metade
dos tanzanianos vivem
abaixo da linha de
pobreza (com menos de
1,25 dólar por dia);
aproximadamente 28%
dos habitantes são
analfabetos e 35%,
subnutridos.
O xelim tanzaniano (TZS,
sigla internacional) é a
moeda da Tanzânia desde
sua independência em
1964, quando substituiu a
moeda colonial inglesa.

altitude. Essa alta formação vulcânica com seu pico

com as planícies de savana à sua volta.

SABIA?
A Tanzânia é um dos países africanos com
maior disponibilidade de água, visto que em
seu território estão os três maiores lagos do
continente: Vitória, Tanganica e Malauí.
A guerra mais rápida do mundo durou cerca
de 37 minutos e foi travada entre a Inglaterra
e Zanzibar (atualmente, pertence a
Tanzânia). Uma esquadra inglesa decidiu
ancorar no porto de Zanzibar para assistir a
uma partida de críquete.
O sultão (homem poderoso) de Zanzibar não
gostou e mandou que seu único navio
atacasse os ingleses. Quando o navio abriu
fogo, os ingleses o afundaram rapidamente e
ainda destruíram o palácio do sultão,
matando quinhentos soldados. Zanzibar se
rendeu na hora e o sultão fugiu para a
Alemanha.
O país tem uma grande importância para a
arqueologia, por ser um dos territórios mais
antigos da humanidade, onde foram
encontrados os primeiros fósseis que
levaram ao surgimento da espécie humana.
Além de ter em seu território as pegadas
mais antigas do mundo.
