Abstract of Thesis presented to UFSC as a partial fulfillment of the requirements for thedegree of Doctor in Electrical Engineering.SPACE VECTOR MODULATION APPLIED TO THREE-PHASE UNIDIRECTIONAL PWM RECTIFIERSFlábio Alberto Bardemaker BatistaJune/2006Advisor: Ivo Barbi, Dr. Ing.Area of Concentration: Power Electronics and Electrical Drives. Keywords: Three-phase unidirectional PWM rectifiers space vector modulation, vectorcontrol, power factor correction, digital control.Number of Pages: 282.Abstract: This work presents the application of space vector modulation to the three-phasetwo-level unidirectional PWM rectifiers. The concepts of space vector modulation and ofvector control are introduced are applied to the bidirectional three-phase PWM rectifier asan example. Space vector strategies are proposed for Y-connected rectifiers, Δ-connectedrectifiers and bridge-connected rectifiers. The extension of proposed modulationtechniques for other rectifiers is verified and a generalized methodology for application oftwo-level unidirectional rectifiers is defined. Vector control structures and the adaptationof proposed modeling are analyzed. The design of power structures and the design ofdigital control structures with DSP are performed. The results of application of spacevector modulation to the three-phase rectifiers are verified by digital simulation and by a20 kW prototype experimentation. Implemented unidirectional two-level PWM rectifierspresent regulated output voltage, high efficiency, high power factor and low input currentTHD.iv
