CENTRO DE INVESTIGAÇÃO MARINHA E AMBIENTAL (CIMA) [350]Relatório Científico 2003Sub-projectoSub-projectEnergy, Water, Solute and Solid Transfer Through the Compartments Of Marine and Continental AquaticSystemsInvestigador responsávelProject leaderTomasz BoskiResumo da actividade desenvolvidaOS PRINCIPAIS DESENVOLVIMENTOS NO ÂMBITO DAS 7 TAREFAS PROPOSTAS :TAREFA I - Dinâmica Sedimentar do Estuário do Rio Guadiana realizou:-Síntese dos dados batimétricos da plataforma continental, com vista à melhoria do conhecimento dafisiografía da plataforma do Guadiana.-Estudo dos sedimentos relíquia e modernos em testemunhos verticais-Estudo dos foraminiferos bentónicos presentes no testemunho vertical 5, localizado no corpo lodoso daplataforma media do Guadiana.-Recolha de amostras sedimentológicas em Julho e Dezembro, na plataforma adjacente à desembocadurado Guadiana, tanto no lado português como espanhol, tendo como objectivo a melhoria do conhecimentodos processos actuais nesta área.-Recolha de oito cores no estuário do Rio TejoTAREFA II- Dinâmica Sedimentar no sistema das Ilhas Barreira de Ria Formosa realizou:-Determinação do transporte sedimentar e das variações morfológicas em barras de maré da Ria Formosa.-Caracterização da morfologia, da sedimentologia e da dinâmica de áreas de galgamento numa área pilotorestrita, localizada na Ilha da Barreta, durante episódios de galgamento.-Caracterização da evolução de médio tempo (levantamentos mensais) de uma extensa área degalgamento na Ilha da Barreta, com evolução ante e pós- galgamento, em períodos e actividade einactividade.-Caracterização da evolução da linha de costa, após georeferenciação de fotografia aérea, para váriostroços da Ria Formosa.-Determinação de linhas de risco costeiro integrado em áreas piloto (Ancão e Ria Formosa).-Determinação da evolução do Canal de Faro e das margens adjacentes, em função das -operações dedragagens aí conduzidas recentemente.-Determinação da evolução da linha de costa na zona da Boca do Rio e Arribas de Almádena.TAREFA III -Itinerários e Efeitos dos Poluentes Aquáticos e TAREFA IV - Respostas de Ecosistemas aStress Natural e Antropico realizaram:-Desenvolvimento da investigação utilizando biomarcadores de efeito (tributil estanho), exposição(metalotioninas e enzimas antioxidantes e ainda biomarcadores histológicos) e susceptibilidade.-Início da identificação de alguns desses biomarcadores em peixes tendo em vista a avaliação de riscoambiental em particular no estuário do Rio Arade.-Investigação da utilização do gene pi da GST de mexilhões na avaliação da qualidade ambiental da zonacosteira.-Desenvolvimento da investigação sobre os mecanismos de defesa existentes em bivalves provenientes defontes hidrotermais da dorsal médio atlântica, e do metabolismo de acumulação de metais e a influência debactérias simbiontes nesses mecanismos.-Em parcerias, avaliações do impacte das descargas das águas residuais no sistema lagunar da RiaFormosa , da qualidade química da água da marina de Vila Moura e caracterização da situação dereferência para Doca de Recreio do Porto de Faro.TAREFA V – Ciclos Biogeoquímicos em Diferentes Escalas Temporais-Quantificação da retenção do carbono orgânico , azoto e enxofre nos sedimentos dos três estuáriosAlgarvios: Guadiana, Gilão e Arade-Determinação da composição da fracção orgânica dos sedimentos estuarinos com a particular atençãopara o grupo de lípidos-Construção dum tanque de ensaios para os estudos de advecção induzida nos sedimentos arenosos porcisalhamento de correntePage2

TAREFA VI - As Mudanças de Nível do Mar – Dinâmica e Consequências-para os últimos 400 ka cartografia de pormenor de plataformas de abrasão marinha no litoral algarvio comdatação usando séries de Urânio (U/TH) em Balanídeos.-Para os últimos 10 ka identificação de eventos climáticos e de pormenorizção da curva de subida do níveldo mar.TAREFA VII- Estrutura da Crosta e a sua dinâmica na Área de Açores-Cálculo de da espessura elástica na região dos Açores associado a programação de um código para ocálculo da admitância entre a batimetria e a gravimetria e comparação dos resultados com modelosteóricos de isostasia.-Modelação de elementos finitos de uma placa elástica com espessura variável no eixo da Terceira. Nov-Dez 2003.-Participação no cruzeiro SIRENA II (Setembro 2003) para recuperação dos hidrofones que estiveramestacionados durante um ano na zona da Dorsal Médio-Atlântica a norte dos Açores.TAREFA VIII - Tecnologias Avançadas de Tratamento de Água-Monitorização de hepatotoxinas e de matéria orgânica natural (NOM) em águas naturais e em águas comdiferentes tratamentos:-Avaliação e optimização da remoção de substâncias perigosas (cianobactérias, cianotoxinas,microrganismos resistentes à oxidação química, vírus, alumínio) e seus percursores (NOM) por tratamentoconvencional com pré-ozonização (ETA de Alcantarilha, ca. 1 milhão e.p.).-Estudos laboratoriais de optimização e integração de tecnologias avançadas de tratamento de água pararemoção de substâncias perigosas e seus percursores: flotação por ar dissolvido/nanofiltração, adsorçãoPAC/ultrafiltração, adsorção em filtros GAC, biodegradação em filtros de areia e de carvão activado.TAREFA IX - Oceanografia do Atlãntico do Sudoeste Ibérico-No domínio da mesoescala, investigou-se o forçamento atmosférico bem como a circulação na época deafloramento no Cabo S. Vicente. Investigou-se a variabilidade da circulação interior na plataforma SulIbérica. Iniciou-se o estudo numérico do filamento de água aflorada do Cabo S. Vicente, utilizando oRegional Ocean Modeling System.-À escala de estuários e mares interiores, continuou a modelação hidrodinâmica e qualidade da água emestuários portugueses.
