SUMMARY1. Introduction: the toxicity of antiretroviral drugs is one of the most importantfactors about treatment, adherence and consequently, in their efficacy to changeHIV-infected patients morbility and mortality.2. Objective: the aim this study was verify if there is any direct relation betweenantiretroviral drugs use and the values of laboratorial parameters in anambulatorial pediatric population.3. Methods: we revised 80 records of children attended in a Serviço de AssitênciaSpecialized of Hospital Infantil Joana de Gusmão (Florianópolis, SC). Childrenwere classified by age, treatment scheme and time of treatment, and thefollowing laboratorial data were evaluated: cholesterol, triglycerides, amylase,asparte and alanine aminotransferasis, glycemic levels and hemoglobin.4. Results: the majority of children was male (55%). The mean of age was 9,06years old. 68,75% of those infants have been treated with ARVT for five yearsor more time. About clinical and immunological classification the mostrepresentative group was A2 with 28,75%. The group that used ddI hadtriglyceride level than the group that not used it. Between the groups with andwithout AZT use, the total cholesterol and triglycerides levels were higher in thegroup with the drug. The infants that have used d4T had a chance 11 timeshigher that present elevated levels of total cholesterol than the group that haveno use it. The children with ARVT containing PI had a chance 2,94 times higherthat have elevated total cholesterol blood levels than the group that have no useit.5. Conclusions: There was no significative difference for none laboratorialparameter among the groups with PI versus NNRTI, with PI versus without PIand with d4T versus without d4T.
