To reduce the risk of injury or propertydamage:ffPull cord by plug rather than cord when disconnectingthe AC Charging Adapter from the unit.ffNever attempt to jump-start or chargea frozen battery.ffTo recharge this unit, use only the supplied ACor DC Charging Adapter.ffVehicles that have on-board computerized systemsmay be damaged if vehicle battery is jump-started.Before jump-starting, read the vehicle’s owner’s<strong>manual</strong> to confirm that external-starting assistanceis suitable.ffWhen working with lead acid batteries, always makesure immediate assistance is available in case ofacci<strong>de</strong>nt or emergency.ffAlways have protective eyewear when using thisproduct: contact with battery acid may cause blindnessand/or severe burns. Be aware of first aid proceduresin case of acci<strong>de</strong>ntal contact with battery acid.ffHave plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in casebattery acid contacts skin.ffIf battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash immediatelywith soap and water for at least 10 minutes and getmedical attention immediately.ffNever smoke or allow a spark or flame in vicinityof vehicle battery, engine or power station.ffRemove personal metal items such as rings,bracelets, necklaces and watches when working witha lead acid battery. A lead acid battery can produce ashort circuit current high enough to weld a ring, orsimilar metal object, to skin, causing a severe burn.ffDo not wear vinyl clothing when jump-starting avehicle when jump-starting a vehicle, friction cancause dangerous static-electrical sparks.ffJump-start procedures should only be performedin a safe, dry, well-ventilated area.ffAlways store battery clamps when not in use. Nevertouch battery clamps together. This can causedangerous sparks, power arcing and/or explosion.ffWhen using this unit close to the vehicle’s battery an<strong>de</strong>ngine, stand the unit on a flat, stable surface, andbe sure to keep all clamps, cords, clothing and bodyparts away from moving vehicle parts.ffNever allow Red and Black clamps to touch eachother or another common metal conductor — thiscould cause damage to the unit and/or create asparking/explosion hazard.a) For negative-groun<strong>de</strong>d systems, connectthe Positive (Red) clamp to the Positiveungroun<strong>de</strong>d battery post and the Negative(Black) clamp to the vehicle chassis or engineblock away from the battery. Do not connect theclamp to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metalbody parts. Connect to a heavy gauge metal partof the frame or engine block.b) For positive-groun<strong>de</strong>d systems, connectthe Negative (Black) clamp to the Negativeungroun<strong>de</strong>d battery post and the Positive (Red)clamp to the vehicle chassis or engine blockaway from the battery. Do not connect the clampto the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal bodyparts. Connect to a heavy gauge metal partof the frame or engine block.ffIf the connections to the battery’s Positive andNegative terminals are incorrect, the Reverse PolarityIndicator will light (red) and the unit will sound a beep.Disconnect clamps and reconnect to battery withcorrect polarity.ffAlways disconnect the Negative (Black) jumper cablefirst, followed by the Positive (Red) jumper cable,except for positive groun<strong>de</strong>d systems.ffDo not expose battery to fire or intense heat since itmay explo<strong>de</strong>. Before disposing of the battery, protectexposed terminals with heavy-duty electrical tape toprevent shorting (shorting can result in injury or fire).ffPlace this unit as far away from the batteryas DC cables permit.ffNever allow battery acid to come in contact with this unit.ffDo not operate this unit in a closed area or restrictventilation in any way.Warning! First Aid:Skin: If battery acid comes in contact with skin, rinseimmediately with water, then wash thoroughly with soapand water. If redness, pain, or irritation occurs, seekimmediate medical attention.Eyes: If battery acid comes in contact with eyes, flusheyes immediately, for a minimum of 15 minutes and seekimmediate medical attention.ffImportant: This unit is <strong>de</strong>livered in a partially chargedstate. Fully charge unit with a household extensionchord (not supplied) for a full 48 hours before using forthe first time. You cannot overcharge the unit usingthe AC charging method.ffAll On/Off switches should be in the OFF positionwhen the unit is charging or not in use. Make sure allswitches are in the OFF position before connection toa power source or load.ffNever insert anything other than the suppliedrecommen<strong>de</strong>d appliance power/recharging cords intothe 12V DC power outlet on this unit.ffDo not use any accessory that is not recommen<strong>de</strong>dor provi<strong>de</strong>d by the manufacturer.ffDo not use this unit to operate appliances that
