ALDA TOMÁS
A SPAL orgulha-se de participar no percurso profissional de uma designer em verdadeira
afirmação nacional e internacional.
Alda Tomás nasceu em São Paulo, Brasil. Com três anos de idade veio para Portugal, onde
fez todo o seu percurso académico e profissional. Fez o curso de Imagem e Comunicação
na Escola de Artes Decorativas António Arroio, licenciou-se em Design de Equipamento
na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa e frequentou o curso de Piano
no Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa.
Integra o Gabinete de Design da SPAL desde 2002 onde tem aperfeiçoado a sua
ligação à porcelana.
Em conjunto com a SPAL, que tem viabilizado a execução das suas criações, é a designer
que mais presenças regista no projecto Remade in Portugal, um projecto vocacionado
para a promoção do ecodesign.
Em 2009 foi distinguida pelo Centro Português de Design (CPD) com uma Menção
Especial do Jurí pelo seu percurso na SPAL, na categoria Prémio Sena da Silva – Design
de Equipamento e Industrial.
Os seus trabalhos têm sido apresentados nas principais feiras nacionais e internacionais
e encontram-se à venda em prestigiados pontos de venda da Europa, EUA e Japão.

to international recognition.
Alda Tomás was born in São Paulo, Brazil. At the age of three she came to Portugal, where
she developed her studies. Coursed Image and Communication in the School of Decorative
Arts António Arroio and later took a degree in Equipment Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts
of Lisbon. At the same time attended piano lessons in the National Conservatory of Lisbon.
Later Alda Tomás took part in the project of integration of young designers in the industry
and she started working with glass. She worked for labels like Mglass and Jasmim, but as far
as materials concern, porcelain caught her eye. Currently, she works at SPAL Porcelanas,
where she has been responsible for the design and development of new products.
Together with SPAL, Alda Tomás is the designer more times present in the Remade in Portugal
editions, an ecodesign oriented project.
In 2009 Alda Tomás was awarded by the Portuguese Design Council (CPD) with a Special
Mention of the Jury for the work she has been developing for SPAL, in the category Prize Sena
Da Silva - Equipment and Industrial Design.
Currently her work is presented in both national and international fairs and commercialized
in some of the most prestigious shops in Europe, US and Japan.
