Atas/Proceedings Seminário Desporto e Ciência 2011 463 de 520 Abstract This work has the following objectives: (1) justify the educational value of swimming and usefulness of educational games in teaching this sport, and (2) equip teachers physical education with useful tools for monetization of teaching swimming in middle school. To this end a review was made in books and scientific articles on the topic to be addressed in SciELO and Google Scholar. The ludic games are considered an excellent teaching resource, as it promotes student learning in a motivating and fun environment. The literature is unanimous regarding the importance of using educational games in teaching and learning process, since they promote the construction of new mental structures and experiences in the following areas: cognitive, affective and psychomotor. The use of ludic games in the teaching of swimming at school, is undoubtedly a key methodological tool for promoting learning a spontaneous and natural, with direct implications for the overall development of children and adolescents. Abstract<br />
