ABSTRACT<br />

The study analyses the training and employability of bachelor in Physical Education and<br />

Sports from 2002 to 2009 at the University of Ma<strong>de</strong>ira. The sample inclu<strong>de</strong>d 167 graduates<br />

(73%) surveyed through an anonymous questionnaire.<br />

The training in the physical education teaching was the most prevalent. The sport<br />

management and the health and exercise prescription were the two branches of the course<br />

that involved nearly 40 graduates, this is not happening with the sports training and<br />

coaching (2%).<br />

In the context of employability, the results revealed a high level of professional involvement<br />

(93%), the physical education teaching was the most significant (47%), followed by training<br />

(44%), sports management (35 %), health and exercise prescription (19%).<br />

The coaching role was the most frequent and preferred in organizations. The results indicate<br />

that 72% of graduates unable to obtain employment after six months and after one year<br />

rises to 90%. Sport clubs (36%), public schools (20%), gyms (14%) were the organizations<br />

that receive or employed more graduates, and those that receive less were the<br />

municipalities (4%), municipalities, special education services (2%) and private schools (2%).
