ABSTRACT
Developing the Study of Sport Consumption Demand of the Population of the Autonomous
Region of Madeira (Colaço, C., IDRAM, 2009) it was considered relevant to draw some
conclusions, in particular, socio-cultural relation to sport, sport participation, institutional
relationship with sport, motivation for sport and recreational facilities for the practice,
transcribed to this article, interpreting such findings to the overall context of the Madeira
Region, without regard to regional differences, trying to find a possible parallelism with the
Sports and Physical Activity Study (Eurobarometer, 2010) establishing an European standard
for the citizens of the State-members with regular practice of physical activities.
We conclude the article with comparative references between various indicators of the
Autonomous Region of Madeira, Portugal and Europe.
